Our Foals

It is our practice to "imprint" our foals, according to the book by Dr. Robert Miller. We pay a lot of attention to their feet, face and ears. We introduce the babies to clippers (though they are not clipped) and a halter. They are taught to lead within the first few days while following mom. These simple procedures will insure a happy and well adjusted donkey.

Lily was born at 2:00 in the morning on Good Friday. She was imprinted and is very straight and correct. What a beautiful face and so affectionate.

Annie is a beautiful sorrel/red color. She's absolutely adorable. We are extremely happy with our first born for Wild West Miniature Donkeys. Annie has been introduced to the clippers, handling her feet, being groomed and a halter (including lots of kisses on the nose). She is extremely affectionate and loves people, as is so characteristic of the breed.
